I'm a mother of two, an artist whose creations are filled with whimsy and playfulness, and an educator with over two decades of experience and a passion for teaching and nurturing young minds. When I'm not teaching or painting, I prefer to be under the open sky, immersed in the beauty of nature or bingeing cooking shows on the couch. I'm lucky to have a warm, tight-knit family, complete with two cats, two dogs, and a snake.
My career as an educator started at The University of Oklahoma. I have a B.S. in Elementary Education with a certification in secondary math education. I taught in public school for 7 years before my son was born. When my oldest son started Kindergarten everything changed. I realized public school wasn't going to be best for his learning needs and made the decision to homeschool.
Homeschooling opened up a whole new world. It broadened my awareness of learning differences and ignited a passion for empowering neurodiverse kids and cultivating community for them. I founded a 501c3 in Wichita, Kansas for marginalized populations that centered ND kids, Sparks Ignite Inc. Sparks was amazing and one of the best investments of my life. Unfortunately, it didn't survive the pandemic, but it opened a door in Wichita and several new microschools have started there since.
During the pandemic I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be closer to family and help support a parent with new medical needs. Sparks continued online for over a year and I used the extra time to complete my Masters of Education from Augustana University with a certificate in Special Populations and Student Support and an internship with the Association of Educational Therapists.
Since 2021 I have focused exclusively on Educational Therapy and Executive Functioning Coaching. I am a professional member of the Association of Educational Therapist, a Certified ADHD Educator, and Executive Functioning Coach.
My practice celebrates neurodiversity! It is a personalized and holistic approach that can transform a child's life, fostering academic success, self-confidence, and a love for learning that extends far beyond the classroom.
